The examples shown in the video apply to various types of cable (Ethernet, fiber optic, speaker wire, HDMI, etc.) however the principle is consistent, install more cable than may seem necessary at the moment for future scalability, to prevent downtime, and to offer options without the hassle of additional labor costs or inconvenience.
Wireless networking, infrared, and Bluetooth technologies do offer great convenience for devices such as cell phones and tablets and certain speakers; those technologies have their place complimenting hardwired connections, however WiFi does not provide the speed, reliability, security or power needs many devices require for the best quality connection.
